Meet Jenn + Crystal

I began my own yoga journey in my mid - twenties as a casual student who dropped into classes at my local YMCA. I didn’t know much about the philosophy, but I did know that every time I left the class I felt like I could float out of there.

Over the next decade or so, I became more drawn to the practice and the physical, mental and emotional relief it brought me. I devoted time to attending classes more regularly, which eventually led me to a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training and ultimately to the felicity and fulfillment of being a lifelong student.

As a trained mental health professional and birth + postpartum doula, I found a great amount of overlap in yogic, mental health, and birth work philosophy; they often compliment one another. So it felt only natural to integrate yoga into my professional work as well. And that’s how Balanced Mind Yoga was born!

As with my approach to psychotherapy and doula work, my private yoga sessions originate from a trauma-informed, client-centered approach. With your consent, one-on-one yoga can offer gentle massage, healing touch and hands on assists to enhance your experience.

If any of this resonates with you, or you just have a few questions, please reach out. I love discussing the benefits of yoga and can't wait to talk to you about it!

Crystal About Me Photo.jpg

I began my yoga journey in my twenties, and in 2018 I experienced a life-changing Women’s Wellness retreat in Cape May, NJ.   It was there that I met like-minded people and began to feel that I connected with my people, my tribe.  The following year me and several women I met in Cape May attended a Yoga & Wellness Retreat in Costa Rica.  This experience left an indelible mark on my life and my soul. Surrounded by the lush jungles and beautiful beaches of Costa Rica, I learned more about yoga, Reiki and other holistic healing modalities which nurtured my whole Self.  I found the yogic practices healing to my body, mind and spirit.  The COVID-19 pandemic offered an opportunity for deep self-reflection, and it was during this time that I decided to become a yoga teacher.  I completed my yoga teacher training (YTT) through My Vinyasa Practice in October 2020, and since then I have completed a 40 hour Trauma Informed Yoga Certification.

I pride myself on being a deeply attentive listener who is able to effortlessly make connections about what you may need based on organic conversation/consultation.  I believe in nourishing the body and creating space and time to honor it, especially during restorative yoga.  Because more time is dedicated to holding poses in restorative yoga, space is created to turn inward, stretch and lengthen more deeply, safely breathe through discomfort and connect with your thoughts/feelings.  I understand that life can be busy and pull you in many different directions which often causes a disconnect from mind and body. This is why I am passionate about helping my students dedicate space to prioritize slowing down and reconnecting through movement and breath.  I operate from a body positive perspective and believe there is no “perfect” or “right way” to practice. Through gentle massage, alignment adjustments and assists, you can feel safe and supported in your practice with me.  I am a certified Usui Reiki practitioner, and with your consent I will incorporate these techniques into your yoga sessions.  I look forward to being a part of your healing journey.
