Counseling FAQs

What can counseling help with?

Counseling can help you work through anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, stress, life transitions, relationship concerns, and more. We’ll collaborate on goals and build practical tools you can use in everyday life.

Who do you work with?

Our therapists work with children, teens, adults and couples. If you’re not sure where to start, reach out anyway—we’ll help you figure out the best next step.

Do you offer in-person and online sessions?

Yes. We offer in-person sessions in Middletown and Odessa, Delaware, and telehealth (online counseling) if meeting from home feels easier or more comfortable.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we accept insurance. Because coverage can vary by plan, it’s a good idea to confirm your benefits (copay, deductible, and any limits). If you’d like, we can help you understand what questions to ask.

  • Aetna

  • Ambetter

  • Amerihealth Caritas (DE Medicaid)

Please Note: Not all therapists can accept all insurance plans. We will help you figure it out.

What if I don’t have or want to use insurance?

That’s okay. Self-pay and sliding-scale (based on financial need) is always an option. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, we can provide a receipt you may be able to submit for reimbursement.

How long are sessions?

Most sessions are 50–60 minutes. Your therapist will help you choose a rhythm that supports your goals and your life.

How often will we meet?

Many people start weekly or every other week. Over time, we can adjust based on what you need, what you’re working on, and what feels supportive.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is a gentle starting point. You’ll share what brings you in, what you’ve been carrying, and what you hope will change. We’ll talk about goals, answer your questions, and make sure you feel comfortable with the plan moving forward.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. Counseling is confidential, with a few legal and safety-related exceptions (for example, if there’s risk of harm to yourself or someone else, or suspected abuse/neglect). Your therapist will review this with you so you feel clear and supported.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations may be subject to a fee.

Do you offer holistic healing services & community support?

Yes! The Healing Cottage is our sister space right next door to our Middletown, DE office. Take a peek at what they have going on!
